ABSS Publication Awards 2026 – Call for Nominations

The Australasian Brain Stimulation Society (ABSS) invites nominations for the 2026 ABSS Publication Awards, recognising outstanding contributions to brain stimulation research.

Two awards will be offered:
  • PhD Student Publication Award (one award)
  • Early Career Researcher (ECR) Publication Award (one award; within five years of PhD conferral, adjusted for eligible career disruptions)

The awards recognise a peer-reviewed original research article, review article, book, or book chapter accepted for publication between 1 January and 31 October 2026. Eligible publications should demonstrate scientific excellence and make a substantial contribution to knowledge, methodology, clinical practice or translation, representing an important advancement in brain stimulation research. The awards celebrate the breadth and depth of brain stimulation research across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.

Award: AUD $300 and formal recognition from ABSS.

 

Eligibility: Applicants must –
  • Be a current PhD student or ECR (within five years of PhD conferral; eligibility  may be adjusted for career disruptions);
  • Have a primary academic affiliation with a university or research institute in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore at the time of publication acceptance;
  • Be the first author or senior (last) author of the nominated publication (Note: Where a publication includes joint first or joint senior authors, any eligible joint author may submit a nomination, but a publication can only be submitted once);
  • Nominate a publication accepted between 1 January and 31 October 2026.
  • Self-nominations and nominations by co-authors are welcome.

 

Application Requirements:

Applications must include (see link to application form below for details):

    • Applicant name and contact details;
    • Full citation of the nominated publication;
    • A brief justification (maximum 200 words) outlining the significance, innovation, and impact of the publication;
    • Brief description of the applicant’s contribution to the publication (maximum 50 words);
    • Evidence of acceptance showing the acceptance date (e.g., acceptance email or online publication record).

Applications will be assessed by the ABSS Executive Committee based on publication significance, contribution to knowledge and/or translation, the nomination statement, and our commitment to recognising excellence and promoting diversity across researchers, institutions, and research topics.
